COLLEGE STATION - Texas State's Ashley Ellis and Sumarie Muller defeated a Sam Houston State team including Brook Mills 8-4 to advance in the main consolation draw of the Wilson ITA Southwest Regional Saturday.

Ellis and Muller will take on the SMU team of Halle Rambally and Brooke Rambally Sunday in a consolation second round.

In another consolation bracket, Christina Amo and Lainy Chafitz moved to a consolation semifinal by drawing a bye.

Also on Saturday in singles play, Ellis lost to Louisiana-Monroe's Diana Espinal 7-5, 6-0 in the qualifying draw. Leja Sirola suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss to UTEP's Katherine Palider in a second round qualifying consolation final.

Amo and Jana Cucciniello will continue consolation play Sunday at the tournament which continues at Texas A&M.
