LUBBOCK - Texas State's Lainey Chafitz suffered a two-set loss in one finals event while Leja Sirola and Sumarie Muller both won third-place matches to close out the Red Raider Shootout Sunday at Texas Tech.

Chafitz and Sirola had both advanced to meet in the semifinals of Flight B of the tournament on Saturday with Chafitz advancing to the finals. She suffered a 7-5, 6-4 loss to Texas Tech's Katja Kovacic on Sunday. Sirola went on to beat UTEP's Danielle King in the flight's third place match 1-6, 6-3, (11-9).

Muller rebounded from a semifinal loss to beat Texas Tech's Anne-Sophie Fankam 7-5, 6-4 in the Flight C third-place match.

In Flight A singles Ashley Ellis lost a 6-1, 6-0 decision to UTSA's Nathalie Wallin in Sunday's third-place match.

Texas State returns to action later this month at the ITA Southwest Regionals in College Station.
