SAN MARCOS - Texas State swept doubles play and won five of six singles matches to defeat St. Edward's 6-1 Tuesday. The Bobcats improved to 2-1 on the year with the win while St. Edward's record evened to 1-1.

Texas State won four of five singles matches in straight sets including Ashley Ellis' 7-5, 6-1 win over Andrea Adamson at No. 1. Lainy Chafitz at No. 3, Sumarie Muller at No. 5 and Mackenzie Farmer at No. 6 also won in straight sets. At No. 4 singles, Ali Gulida defeated St. Edward's Allison Paris in the longest match of the day, winning 4-6, 7-5, 12-10.

Texas State begins a road trip to the Metroplex Saturday when the Bobcats travel to North Texas. Texas State opens Southland Conference play Sunday at Texas-Arlington.
