SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State women's basketball team has hired Patrick Henry as its new assistant coach.  Henry's primary responsibilities will be perimeter player development and director of camps and clinics.  He will also be responsible for recruiting, facility scheduling, film exchange, community service and scouting.

"We are very excited to have a person with Patrick's knowledge, teaching ability and experience join our staff," said Head Coach Suzanne Fox.

Henry comes to Texas State after three seasons as a graduate assistant coach on the men's basketball staff at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.  During his time at Mercer, Henry's responsibilities included scouting, recruiting, film exchange, camp director and compliance liaison.

His coaching background also includes stints on the men's basketball staffs at Georgia Southern University ('01-'02), Frank Phillips Junior College ('00-'01), Florida Southern University ('99-'00) and Northside High School ('98-'99).  Mercer, GSU and FSU won conference championships with Henry on their staff.

"One of the things that attracted me to bring Patrick to Texas State, was that three of the programs he has been associated with have had unbelievable success and won their conferences," said Fox.  "I know that he will be an integral part of helping our program reach its full potential.  I look forward to working with him."

"I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with such outstanding coaches as Coach Fox and her staff," Henry said.  "I am truly honored and humbled to be part of the Bobcat Women's Basketball family and I am extremely eager to get started."

Henry will start on Aug. 1 as he replaces Joe Reints who accepted a position at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn. as the head women's basketball coach.
