PLANO - This week's Aeropostale/Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors goes to Texas State's Joyce Ekworomadu for games played from Feb. 20-26.

This marks the third time this season Ekworomadu has earned this weekly award. She was the initial SLC Player of the Week back on Nov. 21 and repeated the honor on Jan. 30. Texas State has collected five players of the week honors this year, with Tamara Thompson earning two.

Ekworomadu averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in a split week for the Bobcats. She shot 52.2 percent (12-for-23) from the field and 66.7 percent (6-for-9) from the free throw line. The sophomore guard added three steals, two assists and one blocked shot to her two-game totals.

Ekworomadu scored 10 points and hit all four attempted free throws in Thursday's 67-52 win over Southeastern Louisiana, ending SLU's six-game winning streak.

Ekworomadu was one rebound shy of a double-double, grabbing nine boards. The sophomore from Coppell, Texas, led all scorers Saturday with 22 points in a 60-54 loss to Stephen F. Austin. She led the team with eight rebounds.

Other outstanding performances from around the league came from Vivian Ewalefo of UTSA, Lamar's Janique Garrett and Charity Egenti of Stephen F. Austin.

Player of the week voting consists of women's basketball sports information directors and is released by the league office each Monday.
