Ramos Named SLC Hitter Of The Week
May. 2, 2005 SAN MARCOS - Texas State senior shortstop Dominic Ramos was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week Monday, marking the second time in as many weeks that a Bobcat batter has received the honor. Ramos hit .538 (7-for-13) in the Bobcats' Southland Conference series win over Southeastern Louisiana, including a monster day at the plate on Sunday. Ramos started the series by going 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored on Friday night in the `Cats 10-3 loss to Southeastern, and his 1-for-3 outing on Saturday helped Texas State even the series with the Lions. In Saturday's game, Ramos had an RBI and scored two runs while drawing one walk and carding one sacrifice fly. Ramos let loose on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored and four driven in. All three of Ramos' hits went for extra bases, including his fifth triple of the season. His .476 on-base percentage and .706 slugging percentage were tops for the `Cats last weekend, and of his seven hits on the weekend, four went for extra bases. For the week, Ramos hit .417, and led the Bobcats to a 3-1 record in four games. Texas State will take the field Tuesday, as the Bobcats entertain Dallas Baptist in a 6:30 p.m., contest at Bobcat Field.
