Katya Kostetskaya finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.94 seconds, as Texas State entered its second day of competition at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Katya Kostetskaya finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.94 seconds, as Texas State entered its second day of competition at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Bobcats who had only one athlete compete on Thursday, placed three in top ten finishes Friday, led by Kostetskaya's fourth-place finish.

Kevin Galbreath finished sixth on the men's side in the pole-vault competition, finishing with a mark of 16-00.75, while Sarah Stultz was tenth in the women's discus with a mark of 160-02.

In addition, two Texas State relay teams posted preliminary qualifying marks as the women's 4X400 meter team of Courtney Baker, Mila Litvinova, Courtney Fischer and Kostetskaya finished second in their heat but advanced with a time of 3:43.47.

The men's 4X400 squad of John Akinloye, Adam Higginbotham, Erroll Harris and Robert Gill finished second in their heat as well, qualifying with a time of 3:11.37.

Texas State's women's 4X200 meter team of Camilla Davis, Nicole Lawson, Litvinova and Amber Everett finished sixth with a time of 1:37.56, while the men's 4X200 team of Higginbotham, Akinloye, Dayne Grahmann and Gill finished fourth with a time of 1:25.76.

Additionaly, Chris Demmerson finished 20th in the men's long jump, Kemuel Morales finished 16th in the men's shot put, Jaque Iwuchukwu was 13th in the women's triple jump, Rebekah Vickers was 11th in the women's pole vault, and Yuliya Stashkiv (Thursday) was 17th in the women's 5000 meter run.

 

 

Texas State athletes that competed in preliminary events Friday but did not qualify include the men's 4X100 meter relay team, Davis and Alicia Anthony in the women's 100 meter dash and Kavan Mathis in the men's 400 meter hurdles.

Chad Meneffee finished 12th in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.27.
