Josh Thompson has been named Texas State football's athletic equipment manager.

SAN MARCOS - Texas State University has announced the hiring of Josh Thompson as the football program's athletic equipment manager.

Thompson joins the Texas State staff from Troy University where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the football equipment room as a graduate assistant. During his tenure at Troy, Thompson had responsibilities with every aspect of running an equipment room from fitting equipment to ordering inventory to setting up the Trojans' game-day communication equipment.

This past season he had responsibilities with moving Troy's equipment operation to New Orleans for the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Thompson also has experience working with a school in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. He was a four-year team manager as an undergraduate at Appalachian State University. He has also served as an equipment staff intern for the Washington Redskins and Carolina Panthers.

Thompson earned his bachelor's degree in Recreation Management from Appalachian State in 2002. He will also graduate from Troy this May with a master's degree in Sport and Fitness Management.
