1. When looking at your career here at UTPA, what do you feel you have gained from this experience as a student-athlete?
KL - "I learned that I can juggle a lot of things at the same time. It doesn't matter whether it was staying on top of my athletic performance or getting a high grade point average to get into graduate school, I really learned how to manage all of my time effectively."
2. In the first weekend of the season, the team played against Texas State, USC, North Texas and Wyoming. How do you feel the team performed and what were some of the positives that came out of that weekend?
KL - "I thought that we struggled on the first day because we were nervous and didn't know what to expect. The second day I thought that we played together a lot more and it showed against North Texas, but we got tired and sloppy against Wyoming in the last match. I think that our performance against North Texas showed that we can win when we put everything together."
3. What were the goals that you set for yourself this season, both individually and team-wise? Have those goals changed every season or are they the same?
KL - "My goals obviously changed from one year to the next because I changed positions. My ultimate goal is nothing specific, but I just wanted to help the team in any way that I could. I just want to do my job to the best of my abilities and help maintain cohesiveness among the team."
4. You made the move from setter to libero last season. How have you handled that transition?
KL - "There wasn't much of a difference at all because defense comes naturally for me. I had to learn how to be a setter, and I actually prefer playing defense because I get to drive around the floor and tumble around. That part of the game is fun for me."
5. Being on the road for the most part of the fall semester, how do you manage to keep up with your studies?
KL - "I would take all of my books with me, talk with my professors before I left and I would be in constant e-mail contact with them when I was on the road. It was tough, but it was important to stay up with my classes so that I was never behind. There was a point where you constantly feel overwhelmed with everything, but I was able to manage time fairly well so it wasn't too bad."
6. Of the four years that you have been playing at UTPA, which season has been your favorite so far?
KL - "I would say that my sophomore year was the most enjoyable so far because we had a really focused team. We were good that season, and it made everything that much better."
7. With such a busy schedule during the season and with off-season training, how do you find time to not only excel in your classes, but also contribute your time to the community?
KL - "I really enjoy doing community service projects, and it all comes down to time management. I have to make time to do those projects, and it might be adjusting my schedule to make things fit. I'm a big believer in planning things out and having my days organized."
8. How have you matured as not only a volleyball player, but as a complete student-athlete since your freshman year?
KL - "I think that I've learned how to handle a lot of things at once and not get stressed out as easily. That was an important thing to learn."
9. What has been the most memorable moment of your collegiate volleyball career?
KL - "There really isn't anything that stands out in my mind right now. I'm hoping to make that memorable moment this season."
