UTPA head men's golf coach Andrew Tredway announced on Tuesday (June 26) that Tim Acaster (North Battleford, SK/Saskatchewan Provincial H.S.) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Broncs' program during the 2007-08 academic year.
"Tim is a solid player from Canada with a lot of experience," said Tredway. "He looks the prototype for today's top players: tall, lean, great short game, and more importantly, the ability to go low. I think Tim is going to have an immediate impact on our program, and I see him having a lot of success early."
A native of North Battleford, SK, Acaster attended Saskatchewan Provincial High School where he earned athlete of the year laurels during his sophomore and junior seasons. As a junior, the newly-signed Bronc was considered one of the top players in Canada.
Acaster captured several titles during his prep career, which include the 2004 Canadian Junior Men's Championship, 2004 Saskatoon West Optimist, and 2005 Dakota Dunes Nike Event.
Acaster recently participated in the Boys 17-and-Up Division at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's Tournament where he earned runner-up laurels. The future Bronc golfer was a four-time Saskatchewan Provincial High School Champion.
The newly-signed Bronc becomes the first player to sign with the UTPA men's golf program this season after the Valley's squad captured their second straight National Minority College Golf Championship.
