First-Place C-USA Showdown on Tap for Wave at Marshall Friday

Oct. 3, 2007

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The top two teams in the Conference USA preseason poll are the only remaining unbeaten teams in C-USA, and the two battle for sole possession of first place as the 5-0 Tulane volleyball team visits 4-0 Marshall Friday. The Green Wave have won six in a row, boasting a 15-3 record entering the 6 p.m. CT match at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W. Va.

The Green Wave look to tie their best Conference USA start, matching the 6-0 start of the 2003 team, as well as earn their second seven-match win streak of the season.

Marshall, the preseason favorite by the C-USA coaches, enters the match at 11-7 overall and rides its own five-match win streak.

Last year, the Green Wave won at Marshall to snap the Herd's 17-match home win streak in Tulane's first-ever nationally televised match.

This year's showdown will once again feature two of the premier outside hitters in the country, as Tulane's two-time All-America hitter, junior Sara Radosevic, faces off with Marshall senior Kelly-Ann Billingy, a three-time All-America honoree.

The duo were two of the top five in the NCAA in kills per game last season as Radosevic was fifth in the country and Billingy led the nation.

Radosevic is the reigning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.33 kills per game for a total of 32 kills in two Tulane victories over Tulsa and SMU at Fogelman Arena last weekend.

The Green Wave are still receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25, with 11 points in this week's poll. Tulane is slotted 38th among vote-getters and is receiving votes for the fifth-straight week.

Following the match at Marshall, Tulane's road trip continues on Sunday as the Green Wave face East Carolina in Greenville, N.C., at noon central.

Live stats will be available for both matches at TulaneGreenWave.com.
