Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision At C-USA Foe Memphis

Nov. 6, 2005

Final Stats

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Freshman Sara Radosevic had 20 kills and rookie setter Luna Rebrovic had 53 assists, but it was not enough as the Tulane University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Conference USA foe Memphis Sunday afternoon at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave took game one, 32-30, before Memphis posted 30-23, 30-19, 30-21 victories to earn the victory. With the loss, Tulane falls to 3-13 on the year and 2-11 in C-USA action. The Tigers, meanwhile, improve to 16-13 overall and 6-5 in league play.

Radosevic was one of three Tulane student-athletes to post double-digit kill totals, as senior Blair Moon had 13 and rookie middle blocker Jen Linder had a career-best 10. Moon, Rebrovic and Radosevic had double-doubles with 13, 12 and 10 digs, respectively, while senior libero Kelli Dickson led the squad with 16.

The Tulane offense connected at a .223 clip with 37 kills and 14 errors in 103 attempts. The Memphis defense tightened down in the final two frames, though, limiting the Green Wave to a .012 clip in game three and four combined (25-24-81) A big reason for that was 14.0 team blocks by the Tigers, and the offense did its fair share of damage with a .327 attac percentage for the match.

Ashley Liford led Memphis with 20 kills while Shelby Burton added 18 and Fehi Tuivai chipped in with 13. Christen Clayton had a match-best 23 digs for the Tigers while Laura Coté had 14 and Nancy Nellans added 13.

The Green Wave return to action on Friday, Nov. 11 when the take on C-USA foe Tulsa at 7 p.m. at the G. Rollie White Coliseum on the campus of Texas A&M University. The contest is the first of two over the weekend as Tulane battles SMU on Sunday, Nov. 13 to close out the regular season.
