NEW ORLEANS, La. - Sophomore reserve Iman Houston averaged 5.33 kills per game and the Green Wave out-hit the Ladies 109 kills to 37 as the Tulane University volleyball team swept a doubleheader from in-state foe Centenary with a pair of 3-0 victories Tuesday night in Fogelman Arena.

Tulane won the first contest with relative ease, taking the match 30-15, 30-8, 30-15, but had to work for the second victory as Centenary played with more intensity in the second stanza as the Green Wave was able to take home a 30-20, 30-25, 30-17 win. With the wins, the Green Wave improves to 12-10 on the year. Centenary, meanwhile, drops to 8-21.

"We're happy because we were able to play everyone tonight," head coach Betsy Becker said. "Anytime you have a total group effort, it's fun for everyone. When we put our non-starters in, our level of play did not drop and we maintained the same level of intensity in match one.

"In the second match, we started to lose some focus. But in game three, we were able to put the nails in the coffin and claim a winning record."

Senior outside hitter Britney Hurst tallied 23 kills in the two contest, including a match-high 16 kills in the second match. Houston and sophomore outside hitter Anastasia Kenon tied for match-high kills honors in the first contest with 10 each.

Defensively, the Green Wave held the Ladies to a -.016 attack percentage for the day with 13.0 blocks, including six stuffs by junior middle blocker Lauren Jones-McClain. Tulane out-dug Centenary 101 to 69, including 20 digs by Kenon. Freshman setter Kelli Dickson averaged 11.33 assists per game in the win, while her and sophomore outside hitter/libero Lindsey Norman each tallied 17 digs.

Tulane made quick work of the Ladies in the first match, limiting Centenary to just 13 kills in 80 swings for a -.087 attack percentage. Meanwhile, the Green Wave hit .414 and tallied 47 digs to Centenary's 28.

The Ladies made things interesting in the second match, though, fighting tough in the first game and actually leading game two until the Green Wave tied the score at 23-all. After taking a two-games-to-none lead, the Green Wave were able to regroup in game three and cruise to the win.

Tuesday's matches wrapped up a four-match home stand for the Green Wave as Tulane will hit the road for three-match streak away from Fogelman Arena as the team travels to Marquette and DePaul this weekend before heading to Nicholls State next Tuesday.
