Tulane Wins Fifth Straight With Sweep of Tulsa

Sept. 28, 2007

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS - Bridget Wells connected for a .542 hitting percentage with 14 kills as the Tulane Green Wave rolled over Tulsa, 3-0 (30-19, 30-19, 30-24), to remain unbeaten in Conference USA action Friday night at Fogelman Arena. Sara Radosevic added 14 kills on a .310 hitting percentage while Ksenija Vlaskovic led the Wave with 15 kills.

Tulane hit .347 as a team to improve to 14-3 overall, 4-0 in Conference USA, and win for the fifth-straight match and seventh time in the last eight matches. Tulsa falls to 13-5 overall, 1-2 in C-USA play.

Wells set a career high in hitting percentage for the second straight Friday night at Fogelman, topping her .522 against UAB on September 21. Sophomore libero led the way defensively with 18 digs, while Radosevic added nine. Junior middle blocker Jen Linder added six kills, hitting .556, with a team-high three blocks.

Sophomore setter Rachel Lindelow (23) and junior setter Luna Rebrovic (26) helped the Green Wave combine for 54 assists. Rebrovic and Radosevic each added three service aces.

"I'm pleased with the way we came out in game three and improved our level of play," head coach Liz Kritza. "Even though we were up 2-0, we knew we could improve in some areas, and the team responded. We had a chance to put a team away in game three and we came out and executed."

"It was a total team effort," Kritza added. "Before match point, we had three players tied with 14 kills to co-lead our team. Our offensive was balanced and efficient, led by Bridget's high hitting percentage. Our setters, made smart decisions and distributed well tonight."

Tied 11-11 in game one, the Green Wave closed the match on a 19-8 run, hitting .342 in the frame, while holding Tulsa to a .079 hitting percentage.

Tulane hit a blistering .457 in game two, controlling the game from the outset, rolling to another 30-19 win.

In game three, Tulane continue to control, taking a 24-12 lead. Stephanie Stromath added a pair of kills before Vlaskovic ended it with a her 15th kill for a 30-24 win.

Fabiola Nepomuceno led Tulsa with 11 kills, while Malorey Grove recorded 14 digs for the Golden Hurricane.

Tulane will play host to SMU on Sunday at 1 p.m. A win would give the Wave the same number of wins as Tulane totaled all of last season (15-11).
