Tulane women's basketball head coach Lisa Stockton has signed a contract extension, director of athletics Rick Dickson announced Saturday. The extension will keep Conference USA's all-time winningest coach at Tulane at least through the 2013-14 season.

"I am extremely pleased to be able to continue the tradition of Tulane women's basketball," Stockton said. "I've made Tulane University and the city of New Orleans my home, and I take immense satisfaction in the caliber of student-athletes I work with every day at Tulane."

Under Coach Stockton, the 2007 Conference USA Coach of the Year, the Green Wave's women's basketball program has earned nine NCAA Tournament bids, reached the post-season in 10 of her 13 seasons, earned four Conference USA tournament titles and three regular season championships.

In addition, the program has produced 15 All-America honors, and five WNBA players, and every player who's completed their eligibility under Coach Stockton has earned a degree from Tulane University.

The 1995 Metro Conference Coach of the Year, Stockton has a 266-127 record in 13 seasons at Tulane, and a 329-154 overall record in 16 seasons, including three at Greensboro College.

"I'm grateful to Rick Dickson and Dr. Scott Cowen for the opportunity to be a part of the Tulane family," Stockton continued. "I feel that the program at Tulane not only has a tradition of excellence, and helping student-athletes realize their potential off the court, but competes at a high level thanks to the commitment to our program from both the athletics department and the university."

This past season the Green Wave won the regular season Conference USA championship, returning to the post-season with a berth in the Women's National Invitation Tournament, advancing to the second round. Tulane finished with a 26-7 mark, one win shy of the school record, and a 13-3 Conference USA mark to earn the school's first-ever outright regular season title after sharing the crown twice previously.
