Lakethia Hampton Named All-Conference USA

March 2, 2005

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane senior forward Lakethia Hampton was named to the All-Conference USA third team, the league announced on Wednesday.

Hampton, a New Orleans native and graduate of John McDonogh High School, earns her first all-conference recognition after leading Tulane in scoring and rebounding in her final campaign. Her 16.5 points ranked eighth in C-USA while she ranked sixth for field goal percentage with .494.

This season, Hampton tallied three double-doubles and reached double figures in 19 of 22 games in which she played. She became the 17th player in Tulane women's basketball history to score 1,000 points as she ended her Green Wave career ranked No. 9 on the school's all-time lists for rebounds with 610 and No. 10 for free throws made with 254.

In addition, she was named Conference USA Player of the Week on Jan. 3, after collecting her first double-double of the season against top-ranked LSU, when she corralled a season-high 14 rebounds and tallied 24 points. Hampton was also named to the Tulane/DoubleTree Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 22 points and 6.5caroms in games against Stephen F. Austin and Pepperdine.

"This is a great honor for Lakethia," Tulane coach Lisa Stockton said. "She put together a very solid season for us, and it is nice for her to be recognized by people from around the conference."

Ten C-USA schools placed at least one member on the all-conference selection lists. Conference USA award winners are selected by a panel including the league's head coaches, sports information directors and media representatives from each team.
