McKiver was selected second-team All-Conference USA.
Feb. 28, 2002
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane center Teana McKiver was named to the All-Conference USA team, the league office announced at its annual awards banquet on Thursday. A junior from Beulaville, N.C., McKiver was selected second-team All-Conference USA in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches, Sports Information Directors and members of the media. She was also a preseason All-Conference USA choice this season. "Teana is very deserving of this award," head coach Lisa Stockton said. "She has had a great season this year and is definitely one of the top players in Conference USA." McKiver is the only Conference USA player to rank among the league's Top 10 in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage. She currently ranks third nationally in field goal percentage and 16th nationally in blocked shots. She was named Conference USA Player of the Week on two different occasions, including the final week of the season after ending the regular season with a double-double in back-to-back games. Tulane returns to action this weekend, as the Green Wave travel to Chicago, Ill., for the Conference USA women's basketball tournament. The Wave, winners of three straight C-USA Tournament titles, will face UAB in the first round on Friday at 6 p.m.
