EL PASO, Texas - The Tulane women's basketball team opens its Conference USA slate Tuesday at UTEP with a 6 p.m. tip-off between C-USA's two 10-win teams. The Green Wave completed non-conference play with an 11-2 record and have won six straight.
The Miners are off to a surprising 10-1 start after being picked 10th in the C-USA preseason coaches' forecast. Then again, the Green Wave were picked sixth in the forecast.
UTEP and Tulane are 1-2 in scoring defense, scoring margin, assists (with UTEP leading), as well as steals and turnover margin (with Tulane holding the top spot).
The game will feature the top four players in C-USA in assist-to-turnover ratio, as Ana Valtierra and Jareica Hughes are first and third for the Miners, with Tulane guards Ashley Langford and D'Aundra Henry second and fourth respectively.

Tulane leads 2-1. UTEP joined C-USA last season.
Tulane DoubleTree Classic Champions
The Green Wave won its Tulane DoubleTree Classic for the ninth time in the 11 years of the tournament with wins over Fordham and Texas-Arlington. Ashley Langford (10 PPG, 5 RPG, 5.5 APG) earned MVP honors.

Tulane has won six straight (and nine of 10), with an average margin of victory of 14.
Brown's Ballin'
Alendra Brown recorded her first career double-double against Winthrop, setting a season-high in points with 13 and setting a new career high with 13 rebounds. She set another season-high with 14 points against Fordham.
Ashley's All-Around Game
Sophomore Ashley Langford picked up Tulane's first double-double of the season with 12 points and a season-high 11 assists against Alabama, she then turned in a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Texas-Arlington, earning the 5-5 point guard MVP honors at the Tulane DoubleTree Classic.
Balanced Attack
Tulane has seen four players in double-figure scoring six times this season, all victories. Nine different Tulane players have scored 10 or more points in a game this season.
The D' Stands For...
D'Aundra Henry matched up with Miami leading scorer Amanda Jackson and held her to 14 points below her average, forcing 10 turnovers. Henry picked up six steals, a season-high seven rebounds and scored 16 points.
She's Got Some Offense, Too
D'Aundra Henry is second on the team with 10.3 PPG, having turned in a season-high 17-point performance against Lamar.
Theive Wave
Tulane is 10th in the last NCAA report in steals, averaging 16.11 per game. D'Aundra Henry and Ashley Langford are tied for 36th in the NCAA with 3.0 per game. The Green Wave recorded 21 steals against Loyola, the third-most ever in a game for Tulane.
Ashley's All-America
Ashley Langford is currently ranked 24th in the NCAA in assists per game (5.7). Her free throw percentage ranks fifth in the NCAA and she is 36th in steals. Last season she earned Freshman All-American honors after leading all freshman in assists (171), fifth overall.
Rollin' Versus The Unranked
Tulane is 11-0 this season against unranked opponents. Tulane's losses are to then-No. 23 Texas Tech and then-No. 9. LSU.

Senior guard Jami Montagnino scored 30 points against Rhode Island, her second career 30-point contest. She picked up FIU Classic All-Tournament honors and leads Tulane with 15.5 PPG.

Ashley Langford has hit 60-of-69 free throws (.870), for fifth in the last NCAA report. Jami Montagnino is 54-for-59 this season (.915), eighth in the NCAA. In school history, Langford is first all-time (.874, 146-167) with Montagnino second (.856, 195-228).
A Cornacopia of Wins: FIU Thanksgiving Classic Champs
Tulane won the FIU Thanksgiving Classic with wins over Villanova and host Florida International. D'Aundra Henry was named MVP while Jami Montagnino earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Smothered by the Wave
Tulane has held six teams to 60 points or less this season and became the third team to hold LSU under 60 points since 2005-06 started (joining No. 4 Duke, and No. 7 Connecticut).
