Tulane Football Season Finale to Feature Seniors, Bands & Moore
Nov. 18, 2003 NEW ORLEANS - Tulane fans will get one "Moore" opportunity to honor and thank Tulane record-setting running back Mewelde Moore, quarterback J.P. Losman and their nine fellow 2003 Green Wave seniors Saturday when Tulane plays host to Conference USA rival East Carolina in the Louisiana Superdome. Kickoff for the contest is at 1:30 p.m. and tickets are available by calling 504-861-WAVE.
Senior Day festivities at the Superdome will give Tulane fans a chance to thank the 11 members of the 2003 senior class who have been a part of a pair of winning seasons at Tulane, highlighted by the Hawai'i Bowl victory over Hawai'i last year. All 11 of this year's seniors have played important roles on the 2003 team and nine have started games. In addition to Moore (Baton Rouge) and Losman (Venice, Calif.), the Tulane seniors on offense are running backs Kris Coleman (New Orleans) and Chino Fontenette (Houston, Texas) and receivers James Dunn (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Nick Narcisse (Slidell, La.). The Wave has just five seniors on defense - safety Winfred Brown (Marietta, Ga.), defensive linemen Daniel Nevil (New Orleans) and Terrence Tarver (West Monroe, La.), linebacker Brandt Quick (Mandeville, La.) and defensive back Byron Parker (Stone Mountain, Ga.). The seniors, along with their parents, will be introduced during pregame introductions as a video honoring the 11 will be shown.
Before the action gets underway inside the Superdome, Tulane fans are invited again to enjoy pre-game tailgating atop the Southwest Parking Garage. At 11:30 a.m., the final 2003 edition of the "Great to be Green" Pre-Game Bash features a performance by Reggie Hall and the Twilighters. There will be a special GMAC Bowl display and interactive games area for kids in the tailgating area, where tents, tables and chairs and grills are available for rent by calling the Tulane Athletics Marketing Office at 504-862-5625. The Green Wave men's basketball team also will be introduced on the field as they open regular season play on Tuesday, Nov. 25th versus Southern at Fogelman Arena. Tulane's new marching band, "The Spirit of New Orleans" will entertain during pregame ceremonies and at halftime, and they will also welcome the band from Archbishop Rummel High School. Finally, a special halftime presentation will pay tribute to running back Mewelde Moore, who set more than 30 Tulane and Conference USA records during a remarkable Green Wave career. The East Carolina game is Boy Scout Day at the Superdome as game sponsor BellSouth has helped distribute more than 1,000 tickets to area boy scouts. Finally, Tulane's Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB), which consists of representatives from each Green Wave team and is involved in several community outreach projects, will kickoff a holiday toy drive at the game. SAAB members will be at the gates collecting unwrapped toys which will be distributed to underprivileged children during the holiday season. Tickets for the game are on sale now for just $25 for sideline seats and $20 for endzone seating with youth tickets available for $10.
