Tulane/Tulsa Football Game To Air Locally On Cox Channel 315
Nov. 2, 2007
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Saturday's Conference USA football game between Tulane and Tulsa will be televised locally on Cox Cable, Channel 315, as part of a CSTV (College Sports Television) preview as the sports channel will be added to the New Orleans' Cox Cable lineup. CSTV will officially launch in New Orleans on Cox Communications on Sunday, Nov. 11, providing fans with extensive coverage of college sports, including a wealth of Tulane and C-USA programming. The CSTV preview began on Thursday and will run until the official launch date. "We are elated with Cox's launch of CSTV, which will bring Tulane and Conference USA televised sporting events into the Cox marketplace," Tulane Director of Athletics Rick Dickson said. "Additionally, we are working with Cox to produce additional Tulane events as part of this package. This is great for all of our programs and fans. We're appreciative of everyone involved who worked diligently to make this happen." Saturday's game between the Green Wave and the Golden Hurricane is scheduled to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. and features two of the premier players in the country in Tulane running back Matt Forté and Tulsa quarterback Paul Smith. Forté enters the weekend as the NCAA Division I-Bowl Subdivision's leader in rushing yards (1,539), rushing yards per game (192.38) and all-purpose yards per game (218.38). He also leads Tulane with 23 receptions for an additional 197 yards through the air. His 15 rushing touchdowns on 233 carries ranks third nationally and his 11.25 points-per-game average ranks fourth. He is currently on a four-game streak with at least 200 yards rushing, and is one game shy of the NCAA record set by USC's Marcus Allen in 1981 and tied by Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders in 1988 and North Texas' Jamario Thomas in 2004. Smith, meanwhile, comes to town, having thrown for 2,864 yards and 24 touchdowns on 195-of-318 passing, and paces the Tulsa ground game with seven rushing touchdowns. He ranks third in the NCAA in total offense and 12th nationally with a 153.07 quarterback rating.
