Tulane-Louisville Football Game Set for Saturday, December 4

Oct. 29, 2004

NEW ORLEANS - The Conference USA football game between Tulane and Louisville originally set for Saturday, Sept. 18 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Louisiana Superdome, Tulane Athletic Director Rick Dickson announced Friday. Kickoff for the contest will be at 1:30 p.m. (CST).

With Hurricane Ivan bearing down on the Gulf Coast in September and the city of New Orleans under an evacuation order the week of the game, officials of the two schools and Conference USA decided to postpone the contest until the end of the season. After reviewing schedules of all parties involved - including both universities, the Superdome, the New Orleans Hornets and local prep football teams - the Saturday afternoon time slot was selected.

"After reviewing the different schedules, from the teams, to the Superdome, to what else is going on in the city that week and that day, we determined that this date and time would work the best for everyone involved," Dickson said. "We encourage our fans to make a basketball-football weekend of it with both our men's and women's teams and our football team in action at home."

As with all 2004 Tulane home games, the game will be shown tape-delayed on Cox Sports Television (cable 37 in New Orleans) throughout Louisiana beginning at 11 p.m. Saturday. WDRB-TV (Louisville) will televise the game live back to Louisville.

The Green Wave men's basketball team takes on next-door neighbor Loyola Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in Fogelman Arena while the women's team is in action at home Sunday versus Auburn at 2 p.m. All tickets sold for the Sept. 18 football game will be honored Dec. 4.
