Moore Reaches Another Milestone
Oct. 17, 2003 LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Tulane senior running back Mewelde Moore surpassed another impressive career milestone on Friday against Louisville, becoming just the second player in Division I-A history to record 4,000 rushing and 2,000 receiving yards. The senior posted his third straight 100-yard rushing game, tallying 123 yards on 26 carries in the game. He also added five receptions for 57 yards. He now has 4,090 career rushing yards and 2,007 receiving yards. The only other player in NCAA history to reach those marks was Stanford's Darrin Nelson (1977-78, 1980-81). The Louisville game also marked Moore's 20th 100-yard rushing game, a Tulane and Conference USA record. He also added his 36th career touchdown with a tackle-breaking 25-yard run in the fourth quarter; he is now one from tying Tulane's 74-year old record for touchdowns scored and five from matching the Conference USA record. Moore leads Tulane with 641 rushing yards and also ranks second on the team with 32 catches for 356 yards. The Green Wave hosts Memphis on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Superdome.
