ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy took advantage of three first-quarter turnovers by Tulane and scored on each of their first four possessions en route to a 49-21 victory over the Green Wave.

The Midshipmen rushed for 418 yards and six touchdowns on the day, including three by quarterback Lamar Owens. Navy jumped out to a 35-0 lead and did not look back despite three touchdowns by Tulane senior Jovon Jackson.

Navy started all four of their first quarter possessions in Green Wave territory thanks to a 20-yard punt return, a fumbled kickoff return by TU's Israel Route and a pair of interceptions thrown by Lester Ricard.

Navy took advantage of all three Tulane miscues to make the score 28-0 at the end of the first quarter, but the Midshipmen fumbled into the end zone on their first possession of the second quarter as redshirt freshman Scott Elliott replaced Ricard at quarterback for the Green Wave.

The Midshipmen took a 35-0 lead in the second quarter before Tulane got on the board as Elliott directed an 11-play, 73-yard drive culminating in a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jovon Jackson. It was the first TD throw of the freshman's career.

Jackson would total 101 rushing yards and all three Green Wave scores on the day as he added touchdown runs of two and 31 yards in the second half. Meanwhile, after the first-quarter barrage, Navy scored just once in each of the next three quarters.

Tulane lost its fifth straight game before a crowd of 33,608 on Homecoming day in Annapolis.
