NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Patrick Ramsey threw for 355 yards and four touchdowns and Tulane's defense played its best game of the year in a 48-22 victory over Texas Christian on Saturday.

Ramsey had all four scoring passes before the middle of the second quarter and 276 yards passing by halftime. He has 1,974 yards on the season with five games still to play.

Tulane (2-5, 1-2 Conference USA) held TCU (3-3, 1-1) to only two offensive touchdowns while coming up with a season-high five turnovers.

The Green Wave defense applied constant pressure on TCU quarterback Casey Printers early, knocking him from the game in the first half with the second of its three sacks. The hit forced Printers to fumble on the TCU 11. Ramsey hit Terrell Harris over the middle for a touchdown on the next play, giving Tulane a 21-7 lead.

Later in the half, Tulane safety Wesley Heath forced a fumble by Corey Connally with a head-on hit near midfield. That led to a 25-yard field goal by Seth Marler, which made the score 31-7.

TCU backup quarterback Sean Stilley was intercepted on each of the Horned Frogs' first three possessions of the second half, with Trawick Boger returning one pickoff 25 yards for a TD.

An interception by Adrian Mitchell led to a 9-yard touchdown run by Mewelde Moore. Moore finished with 88 yards, giving him 1,020 for the season. He became the first Tulane back to break the 1,000-yard mark in a single season since Eddie Price in 1949.

Tulane struck first in the first quarter when Kris Coleman pulled in a 39-yard pass over the middle and carried tacklers on his back for nearly 10 yards into the end zone. It was only the second career catch for Coleman, a 240-pound sophomore running back.

TCU tied the score when Jason Goss ran back a punt for a 50-yard score. But the Wave responded on its next drive by going 80 yards on seven plays, with Ramsey connecting with Roydell Williams on a 46-yard touchdown pass.

Ramsey then hit Harris for two scores, the second a 44-yarder.

Connally scored on a 10-yard end run to cut Tulane's lead to 31-14 at halftime. TCU's leading rusher with 74 yards on the day, Connally added a 1-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Stilley, who often operated out of the option, was 15 of 32 passing for 158 yards. He also ran for 46 yards.

Tulane's Marler hit a 51-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to go to 13-for-13 on the season, with seven of more than 40 yards.
