NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane University Director of Athletics Rick Dickson announced Thursday that an immediate and national search will take place to find the next Green Wave men's basketball coach.

Dickson will lead the search to find a successor to Perry Clark, who resigned Thursday to take the head coaching position at the University of Miami.

"A national search is underway to find the best possible men's basketball coach for Tulane University," said Dickson "We will move quickly to find someone to lead this program to the highest levels of success both on the court and in the classroom."

Clark compiled a 185-145 (.561) record in 11 seasons at the helm of the Green Wave program. He resurrected a program that had been dormant for four years and turned it into an NCAA Tournament participant in just three seasons. He led the Green Wave to three NCAA Tournament berths (1992, 1993, 1995) and advanced to the second round in each of those appearances. The Green Wave went 20-11, captured the Conference USA National Division championship and advanced to the NIT last season.

"I want to thank Coach Clark for 11 outstanding years of service at Tulane," said Dickson. "We wish him the best of luck at the University of Miami."

He was the 1992 National Coach of the Year, a two-time Metro Conference Coach of the Year and guided the program to the 1992 Metro Conference championship, the only league championship in school history. All told, Clark posted eight winning seasons, seven postseason appearances (3 NCAA, 4 NIT) and six 20-win seasons. His average of 16.8 wins per year is the highest in school history.
