NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Tulane baseball team added Bryan Stelmack and Matt Lusk to its 2001 incoming class, Head Coach Rick Jones announced Wednesday.

Junior college transfer Stelmack, an outfielder and first baseman from Denver, Colo., is hitting .457 this season at Lamar Community College in Colorado. Stelmack currently leads the nation in home runs with 20 and is third in RBI with 76. He chose Tulane over Alabama.

Louisiana prep standout Lusk was named the District 8 2A Most Valuable Player and received all-metro and all-parish honors this season. Lusk, who played in the outfield at Pope John Paul High School, hit .605 with eight home runs and recorded 35 stolen bases. He chose Tulane over Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana.

Tulane hosts the 2001 NCAA New Orleans Regional at Turchin Stadium beginning on Friday, May 25. The No. 1 seed Tulane takes on the No. 4 seed Southern at 7:30 p.m.
