LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team fell to the 24th ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers, 4-0, on a wet and cool Friday night at R. P. Fuller Stadium. The Red Raiders will look to finish the weekend strong on Sunday afternoon as they take on the Colorado Buffaloes at 1 p.m.

In the first period, the Red Raiders and Cornhuskers traded shots back and forth with no scoring until Nebraska broke through in the 32nd minute, when Christine Latham was hauled down by Tech Defender Lindsey Wile (Austin, Texas) and was awarded a penalty kick which she converted for the 1-0 Husker lead. Tech battled hard in the first half forcing three corner kicks and several good offensive chances, but it was Nebraska who went to the locker room with a 2-0 lead as in the 38th minute Brooke Bredenberg took a pass from Iman Haynes and buried the ball past freshman Megan Knauss (Tigard, Oregon), who was making her first career start at goalie for the Red Raiders and made six saves on ten Nebraska shots on goal in the game.

In the second half, the game was played primarily in the Tech defensive zone as the Huskers held a 9-0 shot. Nebraska added goals in the 53rd and 66th minutes to seal the win and move their record on the year to 8-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the Big 12 Conference. With the loss, Tech falls to 2-15 on the year and 0-7 in conference play. Sophomore Roxanne Frilot (Albuquerque, New Mexico) led the Red Raiders with two shots in the contest.

Tech's match Sunday against Colorado will be the team's last afternoon match of the season and the next to last home match of the year. The Red Raider's will close out the Regular season by hosting Baylor on Friday, Nov. 1, at R. P Fuller Stadium at 7 p.m.
