Texas Tech Collects Second Conference Win in Women's Soccer with Overtime Victory October 16, 1998 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team recorded its second straight conference win of the season with a 2-1 overtime victory over Oklahoma State Friday afternoon in Lubbock. Tech improves to 5-4-2 overall, 2-2-1 in the Big 12 while Oklahoma State drops to 7-4-2 overall, 1-2-1 in league play. Fridays overtime contest was the Cowgirls' fifth consecutive extra-period game. Senior forward Amy Rutstein tallied the game-winner for Tech, connecting on a shot from four yards out, going one-on-one with the OSU goalkeeper off a feed from Lindsey Thompson five minutes into the second overtime period. She has scored all of Tech's five game-winning goals this season. Rutstein got the Red Raiders on the scoreboard early after Thompson fed her a perfect pass 2:48 into the game. Gusty winds hampered the offensive play of both teams, but Tech's defensive created offensive opportunities for the Red Raiders, who outshot the Cowgirls, 23-6. Tech, though, could not capitalize on those opportunities. Tech continues its extended homestand with a Big 12 contest against Oklahoma Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Sooners come into Sunday's game with a 7-6 overall record, 1-4 in league play. The Sooners dropped a 2-0 decision to 18th-ranked Baylor Friday in Waco.
