SALT LAKE CITY - The Temple Owls dropped their third straight match, losing 3-0 to Utah State in their final match of the Utah Classic Saturday. The Aggies posted 30-27, 30-15, 30-21 in the three games.
Junior Ying Sun Ling led the Owls with 11 kills while senior Yan Liu stepped up on the defensive end with 19 digs.
The Aggies played bigger and stronger at the net, racking up a team total of 35 kills along with Melissa Larson's seven blocks. Temple senior Maira Mogollon did her part, dealing out 26 assists, adding one kill and one block. JUnior Yue Liu (seven kills), junior Christina DeMarco (six), and senior Jessica Waybrant (five) used Mongollon's sets to help total up a 33 kills for Temple.
Utah State improves to 5-4 with the win while Temple falls to 5-5. The Owls resume play September 15 against Middle Tennessee at 5:00 p.m. in their opening match of the Albany Tournament.
