PHILADELPHIA, PA - Freshman Danira Penic (Croatia) won the 4th Annual Cissie Leary Tennis Invitational on
September 24, defeating Pilar Montgomery of Penn State, 6-4, 6-2 in the championship round.
In first round action for the Owls, Penic defeated Sam Gingold of Princeton 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. After beating Rebecca Ho
of Penn State 6-4, 6-1 in second round play, Penic advanced to the quarterfinal round where she defeated Laila
Shetty in a 6-3, 6-3 straight set victory. Penic later beat Andrea Goldberg of Yale 6-4, 6-1 in semifinal action
before facing Montgomery in the finals.
Penic improved her singles record to 6-0.
The Owls next match is the ECAC Tournament on October 13-15.
