PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's tennis team has added a home match with Drexel University and will open its 2004 season this Saturday against the Dragons at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Courts. The match will start at 7:30 p.m.
Temple coach Tracy Tooke has her Owls poised to defend their Atlantic 10 Conference title. Senior Danira Penic, the 2003 A-10 Performer of the Year, will lead the Owls from the #1 singles position. Sophomore Ana Maslesa, currently ranked #18 in the East, will play the two position.
Tooke has solid depth with junior Lauren Verrall, sophomore Laura Seiverling and freshmen Laura Seiverling and Jackie Sy all vying for spots in the order. Senior Laura Ercegovic, who would normally play second singles, is recovering from a serious knee injury and her status for the season is uncertain.
