SPRINGFIELD, MA - With half of his roster competing in Tempe, Ariz. at the Southwest Cup on Friday night, 31st-year head coach Fred Turoff sent the other half to Springfield College, with first-year assistant Theo Maes, for the New England Invitational. The Owls (129.350) finished fourth behind Springfield (186.550), MIT (181.900) and James Madison (164.900), but better than Vermont (123.850) and USA Gymnastics (64.800).

The Cherry and White floor exercise score of 29.100 was led by the 7.700 tally from sophomore Jeffrey Shearer. Sophomore Joe Skrapits posted a 7.550 while freshman Robert Kay (6.950) and junior John Jeffries (6.900) rounded out Maes' floor line-up.

Temple sent just three competitors to the pommel horse and only two to both the rings and high bar. Jeffries led the Owls' attack on the pommel horse with a sixth-place score of 8.150. Jeffries once again paced the Cherry and White with fifth place finish on the rings (7.450) and high bar (5.850).

Shearer led the Cherry and White parallel bar line-up with a fourth-place score of 7.900. Skrapits (7.450), Jeffries (7.400) and Healy (7.350) completed the Temple attack.
