Sept. 11, 2007

PHILADELPHIA - Brian Quinn, a four-year letterwinner at Temple (1987-90) and a professional golfer for the past 16 years, has been named the head golf coach at Temple University, director of athletics Bill Bradshaw announced today. Quinn won 17 professional tournaments and played on the Asian PGA, South African PGA and South American PGA Tours. He is currently is the director of instruction at the BQ Golf Academy in Conshohocken, PA.

"Having played at Temple and toured the world as a professional golfer, Brian's experience made him the right person to lead the golf program," Bradshaw said. "His leadership will help guide the program back to its rightful place among the region's top teams."

Quinn played four seasons under Temple Hall of Fame head coach John MacDonald, earning All-Atlantic 10 honors as a senior in 1990. He helped the Owls to the NCAA Tournament in 1987 and to a pair of NCAA East Regionals in 1989 and 1990. The team also won the ECAC Championship and was second at A-10s in 1990.

"I am looking forward to leading the golf program at Temple," Quinn said. "I've always admired its great tradition and welcome this opportunity to help the program grow in the future."

The Northborough, MA native won 17 professional tournaments, including most recently the 2003 Massachusetts Open Championship. He was forced to retire from playing after a back injury in 2004. He then founded the BQ Golf Academy in Conshohocken, PA where he is the director of instruction.
