FAYETTEVILLE, PA- The Temple University Golf team took third place in the Verizon Atlantic 10 Championships April 20-22 in Fayetteville, Pa. The Owls shot 883 (+19) over the three-day event held at Penn National Golf Club. Freshman James Chan continued his hot play of late to lead the Owls.
Chan shot 72-70-73 (-1) for the Championship to finish in sixth place and finished as the second highest rookie behind Xavier's Matt Makinson. Chris Bartolacci also played well for the Owls, finishing in 16th place. Mark Watt and Robert Whiting both finished in a tie for 21st at 226 (+10). Sean McCafferty rounded out the scoring for the Owls. McCafferty shot 231 (+15).
This puts an end to the Owls season and to the career of coach John MacDonald, who announced that he would be retiring at the conclusion of the season. MacDonald coached at Temple for 30 seasons and was inducted into the Temple Hall of Fame in 1987.
