COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The TCU women's tennis team earned five All-Mountain West Conference selections, the league office announced on Wednesday. The five selections were the most of any team in the MWC.

Ana Cetnik, Nina Munch-Soegaard, Kewa Nichols and Anna Sydorska were all named to the All-MWC singles team, while Cetnik and Sydorska garnered All-MWC doubles recognition. Munch-Soegaard was also named the MWC Freshman of the Year.

Cetnik, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, earned recognition after recording a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play. Cetnik went 16-7 overall this season playing at the top three positions. Cetnik has received conference recognition in both the MWC and C-USA all four seasons.

Munch-Soegaard, a native of Amarillo, Texas, earned All-MWC singles honors, as well as being tabbed the MWC Freshman of the Year. Munch-Soegaard currently leads the team with a 20-5 singles record playing at the top three positions, including a 7-1 record in conference play.

Nichols, a junior from Austin, Texas, was selected to the all-conference singles team after posting an undefeated 8-0 mark in MWC play, and a 19-6 overall record playing primarily at the No. 4 position. Nichols put together a 12-match singles winning streak from March 16 to April 15.

Sydorska, a native of Lviv, Ukraine, went 17-8 overall and 5-3 in conference play to earn All-MWC recognition. Sydorska knocked off three ranked opponents this season, including New Mexico's Ola Abou-Zekry. Last season, Sydorska was named to the all-conference singles and doubles teams, as well as being named the MWC Freshman of the Year.
 

 

Cetnik and Sydorska earned doubles recognition after going 10-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play this season. The duo knocked off five ranked opponents this season, including the No. 2 pair from VCU and the No. 3 duo from California. The tandem is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, and earned a ranking of No. 3 on Feb. 21, which is the highest doubles ranking in TCU history.

The women will open the MWC Championship on Thursday in the quarterfinals against Wyoming at 11 a.m. CT.
