Women's Tennis Picks Up Conference Win Over Tulane, 4-3

New Orleans, La. - The 31st-ranked TCU women's tennis team earned its second conference victory of 2002 as they defeated Tulane, 4-3, on Saturday. The Frogs' record advances to 10-3, 2-0 C-USA, while the 61st-ranked Green Wave falls to 7-4, 1-2 against C-USA opponents.
The Frogs picked up the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. The 30th-ranked duo of Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez topped Maria Ivanov and Joyce Bergman, 8-5, at No. 1, while Katrin Gaber and Karla Mancinas picked up the 8-6 win over Lucy Wood and Anneli Axsater at No. 3. TCU is now 10-0 when winning the doubles point.
TCU was able to earn wins in singles play at Nos. 1, 4 and 5. Playing one singles, 99th-ranked Paty Aburto picked up a straight-set win over Julie Morris, 6-0, 6-3. No. 4 Rosa Perez also earned a straight-set win, but had to win the second set tiebreaker to take home the 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory against Ana Saaibi. Karla Mancinas earned the third singles win for the Frogs at No. 5 as she defeated Maiko Cook, 7-6, 7-5.
The Frogs host 40th-ranked South Alabama on Tuesday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. TCU's match versus No. 24 Oklahoma State, originally scheduled for March 3, has been rescheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.
