Fort Worth, Texas - Conference USA named TCU women's soccer player Katie Buchanan its Defensive Player of the Week for her performance this past weekend. The honor is the first for the TCU women's soccer program since joining Conference USA in 2001 and Buchanan is the first player to receive a conference Player of the Week award since Sherry Dick won the award on September 11, 2000.

Buchanan, a freshman goalkeeper, led the Frogs to the top of the Conference USA standings this past weekend with a pair of shutouts. In a 2-0 win over Southern Miss on Friday, Buchanan made two saves, one in each half, to lead the Frogs to their second-straight C-USA victory. In Sunday's match against Tulane, the number two team in the league, Buchanan made three stops against the Green Wave's top scorer, Asia Simons, lifting them to a 2-0 win and propelling the Frogs into sole possession of first place.

Buchanan has not allowed a goal in 184:27 dating back to a 3-2 win over Houston on October 10. The last goal to be scored against her came in the 85th minute of that game by Houston's Beth Outlaw.

The daughter of David and Barbara Buchanan, she is a native of Plano, Texas and a 2003 graduate of Plano West High School. She is a business marketing major at TCU.
