TCU ranks among the nation's attendance leaders
Feb. 2, 2007 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The support and dedication of the TCU soccer program by the Fort Worth community and the university was recognized on Friday in the final attendance numbers from the 2006 season. TCU ranked 11th in the country with an average attendance of 1,254 in 10 home matches. In total, 12,543 fans attended home matches at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium during the 2006 season, which ranked 13th in the country. "To be mentioned with the top programs in the country for attendance shows the progress we have made as a program as well as the potential we've got to continue to grow," head coach Dan Abdalla said. "The generous contribution from The Garvey family allowing us to enhance an already top-notch Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium with lights, coupled with the unbelievable support we had from the Fort Worth and TCU community, really created one of the uniquely great college soccer atmospheres." TCU's average attendance was just behind Texas and Florida State, who averaged 1,339 and 1,338 fans, respectively. In total attendance, TCU finished just 13 behind Colorado, who ranked 12th. The Horned Frogs' highest attendance came against No. 1 Notre Dame on Sept. 8, when 2,053 fans attended the match. The attendance was the second highest in school history. "We've already seen the result with our upcoming recruiting class," Abdalla said. "It's more fun to play in front of great, enthusiastic crowds and top-level players want to be a part and play in front of that excitement."
