Matranga advances in U.S. Open qualifying
May 17, 2006 HOUSTON -- TCU golfer Catherine Matranga has advanced to sectional play in qualifying for the U.S. Women's Open Championship June 29-July 2 at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I. Matranga carded a 72 Monday at the Westwood Golf Club in Houston, tying her with Duke's Amanda Blumenherst for the top score. Incoming TCU freshman Megan O'Donnell shot a 77 and is an alternate. Matranga, a junior from Fort Worth, will next play 36 holes June 12-13 at TPC at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
