Women's Golf Lands In East Regional
May 1, 2001 FORT WORTH, Texas (May 1, 2001) - The TCU women's golf team has received a bid to play in the 2001 NCAA East Regional which will be played at the Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from May 10-12. This is the sixth consecutive year under head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin that the Frogs have qualified for regional play.
TCU, currently ranked 15th in the nation by Golfweek, earned the fourth seed in the East after a strong spring season which included a second-place finish at the WAC Championships last week.
The Frogs are one of 21 teams in the East Regional, a field highlighted by Duke, the nation's top-ranked team. Fifth-ranked Auburn earned the second seed, while sixth-ranked Georgia grabbed the third slot.
Other teams competing include: Campbell, Charleston Southern, Florida State, Jackson State, Kansas State, Louisville, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, Northwestern, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, South Carolina, South Florida, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
The top eight teams from each of the three regions will advance to nationals. Also qualifying will be the top two individuals in each region not on an advancing team. The NCAA Division I Women's Championship, hosted by Stetson, will be May 22-25 at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. |
