Barr earns third place individually in Tempe
TEMPE, Ariz. (April 9, 2001) -- The TCU women's golf team continued its impressive spring season by netting a third-place finish at the Ping/ASU Invitational over the weekend. The 18th-ranked Lady Frogs finished with a 54-hole total of 895, which was six strokes behind first-place Southern California (889) and two behind host Arizona State (893). Sophomore Shannon Barr rolled to a third-place individual finish, the best result by a Frog golfer this season. Her three-day total of 218 was just two shots off the pace of Stanford's Stephanie Keever (216). With a final-round 70, Barr moved from 10th place into third on the final day. It also ranked as the best finish of Barr's two-year career. TCU freshman Courtney Wood (223) landed in a tie for 15th position to gain her fourth Top 20 placement of the year. Junior Jennifer Patterson (T-22nd, 225), freshman Brooke Tull (T-47th, 231) and senior Amy Sands (T-62nd, 239) also participated for the Frogs. TCU stayed in the Top 3 during the entire tournament and led the event after the first day with a card of 299. The Frogs have now placed in the Top 5 in four of their last five tournaments.
