FORT WORTH, Texas (March 14, 2001) -- The TCU men's golf team landed in the top five nationally for the first time this season after back-to-back impressive finishes last week. Meanwhile, the women's golf team also remains a member of Mastercard's Top 25, holding in the 21st position.

Sophomore Adam Rubinson has moved into 20th place as an individual, while senior Scott Volpitto is ranked 45th. For the women, senior Brenda Anderson is 67th, while freshman Courtney Wood is 68th.

The MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, which are administered by the College Golf Foundation and compiled by Golfstat in cooperation with the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA),are determined by a computerized system based strictly on performance during the 2000-01 collegiate golf season.

Georgia, which won the team titles at two of the biggest Rolex Collegiate Tour events of the fall season - The Preview presented by Ping and Golfweek and the Rolex/Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational - is the top-ranked men's team. The Bulldogs, who were also ranked No. 1 in the last three editions of the MasterCard Rankings, finished fourth at the Puerto Rico Classic in February. Clemson, which won the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate during the fall, is ranked second. Georgia Tech, which has two straight wins this spring including the Las Vegas Invitational this weekend, is ranked third. Rounding out the top five are Texas, ranked fourth, and TCU, ranked fifth.

Duke, which has four Rolex Collegiate Tour victories this season, is the top-ranked women's team. The Blue Devils, which won the NCAA Fall Preview, the Franklin Street Trust Lady Tarheel Invitational, the Mercedes-Benz Women's Intercollegiate Championship and the CGF Match Play Championships, have won four of the six events they have competed in this season. Arizona, which has also won four Rolex Collegiate Tour events, is ranked No. 2. Rounding out the top five are Auburn, ranked No. 3, Southern California, ranked No. 4, and Stanford, ranked No. 5.
