LEWISVILLE, Texas (April 25, 2001) - The 14th-ranked TCU women's golfers completed their final WAC Tournament as they had the previous two years, finishing as the conference runner-up to Tulsa. On the final day, the 12th-rated Golden Hurricane tore up the Golf Club at Castle Hills to the tune of a 275, turning a two-stroke lead into a 25-shot victory.

After shooting a final-round 298, the Frogs finished with a 54-hole total of 889, outdistancing third-place San Jose State (894) by five shots. Tulsa, who was led by individual medalist Stacy Prammanasudh (211, -5), completed the championship event at even-par (864).

Three Frogs finished among the field's Top 10 performers, while all five players wound up in the Top 20. Freshman Courtney Wood was TCU's top player, landing a personal-best and TCU season-best third-place finish. Wood, who owns three Top 10 finishes this season, made another strong case for WAC Freshman of the Year honors as she mustered a three-over-par 219 for the tournament, edging fellow freshman Suzie Fisher of Tulsa by one stroke.

Joining Wood in the Top 10 were senior Brenda Anderson and sophomore Shannon Barr. Both players shared 10th place with three-day totals of 225. It was the second consecutive Top 20 finish for Barr and the second of the season for Anderson.

Junior Jennifer Patterson shot a 79 on the final day and finished in a tie for 13th. She now has placed among the Top 20 in four of her last six tournaments. With a 75, freshman Brooke Tull moved up the board to 17th overall with a 54-hole 233.

On Monday morning, April 30, TCU will learn the seeding for the NCAA Central Regional which will be played May 11-13. The NCAA Championships take place May 24-27 in Orlando, Florida.
