Biernacka, Davis and Ross earn All-Mountain West Conference honors
March 5, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU's Hanna Biernacka, Ashley Davis and Adrianne Ross picked up All-Mountain West Conference honors as selected by the league's coaches and announced by the league office on Wednesday. Headlining the trio was Ross, who was named Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year. Ross was also selected First Team All-Mountain West Conference. Davis was named Second Team All-Mountain West Conference and Biernacka was selected Honorable Mention All-Mountain West Conference. A junior guard from Hobbs, N.M., Ross led the league in scoring with an average of 17.3 points per game and also paced the conference with 89 steals. With the award, Ross became just the second player in school history to be named conference player of the year. Former Lady Frog Sandora Irvin won the same award in Conference USA in 2005. The co-recipient with Ross was BYU's Dani Wright. In addition to being named Co-Player of the Year, Ross was also selected First Team All-Mountain West Conference. Ross' honor marked the fourth straight season a TCU player has been chosen first team all-conference. Statistically, Ross ranks 15th in the country in steals per game (2.9) and she has scored in double figures in 27 of 30 games.
On the year, Ross posted two double doubles and was two assists shy of a triple-double against New Mexico on Jan. 24. In the same game against New Mexico, Ross became just the ninth player in school history to total 1,000 career points. Ross also set a school and conference record with 10 steals at UNLV on Feb. 3. She also set career highs in points (26), rebounds (11) and assists (8) this season.
A senior guard from San Antonio, Texas, Davis earned her second all-conference award after being named honorable mention all-league in 2006. Davis received Second Team All-Mountain West Conference honors after leading the league in three-point field-goal percentage (42.1) and three-pointers made (72). Davis also ranked sixth in the league in scoring with an average of 14.1 points per game. In addition to her success in the league, Davis has ranked among the top 15 in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage and average three-pointers made per game all season long. Like Ross, Davis is one of just nine players in school history with 1,000 career points. Earlier this season, Davis set a school record by making all seven of her shots, including six three-pointers at Colorado State on Feb. 7. Beginning with the second half of the UNLV game and spanning through the Colorado State game, and into the first half of the Air Force game, Davis made 16 consecutive shots, including 10 three-pointers. Davis also had the second longest streak in the nation with at least one three-pointer in 46 straight games. A senior forward from Stockholm, Sweden, Biernacka earned Honorable Mention All-Mountain West Conference honors. Biernacka ranked third on the team in scoring (12.2) and second on the team in rebounding (5.1). Despite only being eligible to play in 21 games after transferring from LSU, Biernacka made an immediate impact and posted double figures in 12 games. Biernacka tied Ross for the highest scoring performance of the season with a career-best 26 points against UNLV. In the game, Biernacka made 13-of-19 shots. Biernacka seemed to play her best basketball down the stretch, as she tied for the team lead in scoring in final two games of regular season with 18 points at San Diego State and 17 against BYU. In addition to her scoring, Biernacka also posted a career high with nine rebounds against Wyoming and at Air Force.
