April 24, 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 68 TCU men's tennis team will begin the 2007 Mountain West Conference Championship on Thursday at 4 p.m. CT against Air Force in the quarterfinals.

The Horned Frogs (9-11, 5-1) and Falcons (11-15, 0-6) met each other in Fort Worth on April 13, where TCU triumphed 7-0. The two teams have faced each other four times in the overall series, with TCU winning all four contests.

The Frogs wrapped up the regular season with three conference victories, including an upset of No. 46 New Mexico, to secure a No. 2 seed for the conference tournament.

TCU features the nation's No. 103 ranked singles player in Cosmin Cotet, along with the No. 43 ranked doubles tandem of Cotet and Kriegler Brink. The duo has put together a 14-4 record together playing at the No. 1 position this season.

The winner of the Air Force-TCU match will move on to the semifinals on Friday at 3 p.m. CT to face the winner of the UNLV-Utah match. The championship match will be played on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.

The Frogs will look to win their second consecutive conference tournament title, after taking home the crown last year in their inaugural season in the MWC. TCU knocked off Air Force, BYU and San Diego State to claim the title.
