CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Conference USA office announced today that the 27th-ranked TCU men's tennis team (10-9) will head to the 2002 C-USA Championship as the No. 1 seed. The championship is being hosted by the University of Louisville on April 18-21 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The top four seeds in the championship (1. TCU, 2. Tulane, 3. South Florida, 4. Memphis) all received byes in the first round.

The Horned Frogs will face the winner of eight-seeded Charlotte and ninth-seeded Southern Miss on Friday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. The 49ers are led by senior Ola Jonsson, who is ranked 93rd in the nation. Southern Miss defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 4-3 in its regular season finale to even its record at 9-9. TCU blanked Charlotte by a 6-0 count when they hosted one of several C-USA Shootouts this year on February 22. The Horned Frogs and Southern Miss have never met.
