Men's golf tied for eighth after one round of Hall of Fame
March 17, 2006 HUMBLE, Texas - Playing shorthanded, the TCU men's golf team battled its way into a tie for eighth place after the first of three rounds at the Hall of Fame Invitational. The Horned Frogs shot a 20-over-par score of 308 at the Redstone Golf Course to sit 15 shots behind tournament leader Texas (293) in the 17-team event. Senior Drew Laning is tied for 13th place after a first-round 74, while freshman Tom Miles (76) has a hold on 27th place. Junior Drew Stoltz and freshman Jon McLean each shot scores of 79 to sit in a share of 49th. Sophomore Franklin Corpening withdrew from the first round, forcing TCU to use all four of its first-round scores. Freshman Jesse Speirs, who entered the tournament as an individual and does not figure into the team score, is in the 42nd position after a 78.
