Horned Frog Golf Honored By Golfweek

Feb. 17, 2003

FORT WORTH, Texas - With a school-record four golfers rated in the top 100, TCU continues to hold down the third position in the updated Golfweek ratings, which came out on Sunday. In addition, the magazine recently gave the Horned Frogs an A+ grade for their fall semester. TCU began the season ranked 28th, but finished the fall slate rated fourth in the country.

Among the players rated in the top 100 are: senior Adam Rubinson (No. 19), sophomore David Schultz (No. 31), junior Adam Meyer (No. 75) and freshman Colby Beckstrom (No. 78). Meyer and Schultz each have claimed tournament victories this year, while Rubinson and Beckstrom have runner-up placements to their credit.

TCU's schedule currently rates as the 12th-most difficult in college golf. Despite the tough slate, the Frogs have won two tournament titles and placed in the top four on four other occasions in their seven events. Halfway through the schedule, TCU is one tournament victory shy of equalling the school-record for wins in a season (3), which was set in 1997-98 and matched last year.

TCU, rated sixth in the February Precept Coaches' Poll, is next in action at the Las Vegas Collegiate from March 7-9.
