NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- TCU defensive end Tommy Blake has been named a first-team All-American, while the Horned Frogs are ranked 25th in the preseason top 25 by Athlon Sports.

It's the third preseason All-America honor for Blake. He was previously named to All-America teams by Playboy and NationalChamps.net.

Blake topped the MWC last season with 16.5 tackles for a loss while tying for the league lead with seven sacks. He is one of six Frogs on Athlon's first-team All-Mountain West Conference squad. Joining Blake are safety/punt returner Brian Bonner, tailback Aaron Brown, offensive guard Matty Lindner, defensive end Chase Ortiz and linebacker Jason Phillips.

Center Blake Schlueter was a second-team All-MWC selection.

Representing TCU as third-team preseason All-MWC picks are linebacker David Hawthorne, placekicker Chris Manfredini, offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, cornerback Nick Sanders and defensive tackle James Vess.

The Frogs, who open the 2007 campaign with a Sept. 1 home game versus Baylor, return nine defensive starters and six on offense.
