The TCU offense put 13 points on the board while gaining 320 yards in 65 plays in the annual Purple-White game held at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth on a rainy Saturday morning.

"It was a good day for the offense," said TCU head coach Gary Patterson. "We moved the ball. I didn't like the way we fought defensively in the second half. We'll take giving up just 13 points in a game, but it looked like the defense just wanted to get the game over with. The offense kept fighting."

The offense got on the board late in the first quarter when senior quarterback Sean Stilley hooked up with senior wide receiver LaTarence Dunbar on a 15-yard scoring pass. Stilley, who completed 10 of 19 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown, also had a 35-yard completion to Kevin Brown and a 24-yard strike to fullback Reggie Holts on the afternoon.

"Sean managed everything right today," said Patterson. "Tye Gunn is our number two quarterback right now," he added when sizing up the quarterback situation.

Tommy Taylor booted a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter and redshirt freshman Mike Wynn connected on a 29-yarder in the third quarter to complete the scoring for the purple squad.

Despite playing in steady rains, Patterson thought it was important to get today's scrimmage in.

"We wanted to go today, no matter what," he said. "We play in some rainy games around here. I was happy that, other than a mistake on an option, we didn't turn the ball over, despite the weather conditions. The "twos" and "threes" got their reps in today, which we wanted. The biggest thing is we came out of here without getting anybody hurt," Patterson said. "And we got 15 of our 44 practices out of the way before we open at Cincinnati on September 2."
